Learners Den brings together a diverse group of specialist contributors who will ring fresh perspectives and expert advice on a variety of topics in relation to the objectives of RETECH Foundation’s Scholarship, Mentorship and Good Citizenship programmes.
Ronye has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Minna and a Master of Science in Engineering Geology from Imperial College London.
He also has a Master of Business Administration from the Said Business School, University of Oxford. He has over 18 years’ experience working in the Oil and Gas Sector. He started his professional career in 2001 as a Geotechnical Engineer with Technip in Aberdeen. In 2005, he joined Acergy as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer and moved to Subsea 7 in 2007 as a Principal Geotechnical Engineer. In 2009, he assumed the role of Graduate Development Manager responsible for the development of over 30 graduates ensuring they developed the skills and experience required for professional qualification.
In 2010, he was made Engineering Manager in Subsea 7. In 2014, he joined Reef Subsea as Engineering Director based in Aberdeen, United Kingdom.
Ronye is a certified Project Management Practitioner, a European Engineer. He is a Chartered Geologist, Chartered Engineer, Chartered Manager and Fellow of the Geological Society, London, the Institution of Civil Engineers, UK and the Chartered Management Institute.
Ronye is currently Managing Director of RETECH Energy Services Limited.
Edward is a certified Senior HR Professional in Human Resources and a multiple award-winning Leader. He has worked in both the public and private sectors. After working in various senior HR management roles Edward went on to establish multiple award-winning companies HR Hub Plus Limited and Peridot Recruit Limited in 2018/2019 respectively. His area of expertise includes employment law, recruiting, onboarding, training, employee relations, performance management, leadership training and development, and safety.
He is a father of 3 lovely kids. In his spare time, Edward enjoys spending time outdoors with his children and friends. Edward also loves reading, writing articles, playing table tennis, and supporting the local community. He is well known within the business circuit in Scotland either supporting local business owners, delivering workshops, and speaking at various event. He is a passionate people’s orientated person.
Lauretta Pearse is a first-class graduate of Civil and Environmental Engneering from the University of Lagos (Nigeria) and she also obtained a distinction in her Master’s degree (MSc.) at the University of Calgary (Canada) with a research focused on greenhouse gas quantification and mitigation. She is currently a Civil and Environmental Engineer with an engineering consulting firm in Alberta, Canada. During her Master’s program, Lauretta was heavily invoved with the graduate student associations at University and departmental levels. She also vounteered with the student liasion committee of the association for professional engineers and geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) as an event coordinator, organizing networking events, resume review and interview sessions as well as industry mixers.
She received both Provincial, Federal and University awards such as the Queen Elizabeth II scholarship, Alberta Graduate Citizenship scholarship, CEERE Scholarship, teaching excellence award, graduate college scholarship, graduate representative council initiative award, outstanding team (Community Advisor) contributor award, early-career student research award during her time at the University of Calgary. Through Lauretta’s exemplary leadrship, she was invited to join the University of Calgary Graduate College – a small community of graduate and senior servant-leader scholars selected from all faculties across the University of Calgary based on academic excellence, leadership and breadth of experience and training. Lauretta was also a community advisor, mentor and leader to several graduate students in her department and residence. She is an author of several articles published in high ranking and prestigous international journals. In addition to volunteering and mentoring, Lauretta enjoys dancing, building life-long relationships, being creative and taking up new adventures.
Lauretta’s current interests are to support anyone interested in post-graduate studies whether in Canada or elsewhere get the information, insights and resource they need to not just attend graduate school but to also THRIVE through her personal experiences and learnings. Titi Oliyide holds a first-class undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria and a Master’s degree in Advanced Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London. She has gained experience as a safety engineer, providing safety assurance expertise for various engineering systems and major projects in the energy and transportation industries.
